These animals are categroized into vertebrates and invertebrates. Vertebrates is the group of animals that have back bone while invertebrates is a group of animals that dont have back bone. According to certain traits, vertebrates are further classified into five groups named as amphibian, birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. Here we will discuss these animals and their certain characteristics with examples.

 Amphibians:

 The meaning of the term amphibian is “double life” and refers to vertebrates that live both on land and in water. Amphibians are classified as cold-blooded animals which means they can adjust their body temperature according to the environment. Living in water, they breath with their gills while on land they breathe by lungs. Most amphibians lay their eggs in the water. Before developing into adults, the young go through a larval stage where they breathe through gills and swim with fins. Amphibians do not drink water; rather, they take it in through their skin. ● Wormlike Birds Although every bird has a backbone but unlike the majority of other vertebrates, birds have a lighter skeletal system that is filled with hollows, gaps, and air sacs to keep them lightweight that improve their ability to fly.

 The two things that best describe birds are their feathers and wings. Even birds that cannot fly have vestigial wings or flippers that they may utilize for swimming or displaying their aggression. ● Chicken Fish Fish are aquatic vertebrate creatures without fingers or toes. However, they do have gills. They depend on their environment to control their body temperature as they're ectothermic, or cold-blooded. Fish encompass a huge variety of aquatic creatures.

They may be found in a variety of habitats and are available in many forms and sizes. Fish can be found in alpine lakes high in the Andes or the deepest parts of the ocean. The ability to produce milk is another feature shared by all female animals. Living mammals come in more than 5,000 different species and subspecies. Rodents, a class of animals that includes mice and squirrels, account for more than half of all mammals. Most mammals are terrestrial, meaning they dwell on the ground, in trees, or even underground. Marine animals like manatees, dolphins, and whales live their whole lives in the water. There are certain mammals that can live both on land and in water, such as otters, beavers, and seals.

● Whale Reptiles Reptiles are cold blooded vertebrates. 

They often lay soft-shelled eggs and have dry skin that is covered by scales or bony plates. They breathe through lungs and have four legs or are descended from creatures with four legs. They may reside on dry land, in trees, in caverns, or in water. They are found everywhere with the exception of particularly cold regions. Turtles spend some time on land but spend the most of their lives in water. All tortoises are terrestrial animals.
